Type of Finish
Every Grava product is polished, buffed or rugged. The type of finish you choose will determine the look and feel of the piece you’ve envisioned.
Pieces that are polished are suited for the indoors - plus, they’re easier to keep clean and maintain for a long time. Rugged pieces are pretty much straight out of the Flintstones set, minus the animated look. They work excellently as garden benches, granite plants, and even fountains.
Polished: The most common granite finish. Provides a reflective sheen on the surface, lending itself well to darker shades of the stone.
Honed: Gives a satin-like feel to the surface. Not as stain-resistant or easy to clean as other finishes, although it lends itself beautifully to shades of grey granite.
Leather: This finish is created using diamond-tipped brushes. Gives granite a luxurious feel, which is why we usually tend to use this finish for our wash basins.
Bush Hammered: This finish is close to the rough, hewn look of actual granite. The look is achieved by chiseling the surface with a hammer tool. Works well in combination with leather or polished finishes.
Matte: Similar to the leather finish, this is great for making granite look "not-like-granite". An excellent choice for lighter coloured granites and to leave people wondering about what material the object is made from!
